A beginners course in the study of the human figure and anatomy in drawing. We examine how the body moves in relation to itself and the environment. We will put to practice the skills we learn to draw nude models from life. Level up your life and figure drawing skills!
WEEK I. Fundamentals of drawing, techniques and materials. Building up a figure from lines, shapes and angles. Proportion, landmarks, muscles and skeletal structure and negative space.
WEEK II. Model drawing. Using light and shadow to create volume. Exploring line work to create weight and contours. Contour drawing. Blind contour. Practice how to observe from Life.
WEEK III. Model drawing. Expression and movement. Conveying emotion and dynamic poses. Foreshortening and the figure in perspective.
WEEK IV. Model drawing. Focus on hands, feet and head. Bringing it all together. Critique session.
