An intensive course into acrylics that covers all aspects of this wonderfully versatile painting medium.
No prior knowledge required. We will begin with an understanding of acrylic as a paint and its associated mediums.
We cover substrates, finishes, painting techniques, colour theory, composing framing and finishing a piece of artwork, the difference in paint qualities and brushes and how to choose your colour palette. We will also hold a critique session of our completed artworks at the end of the course.
PROGRAM:
WEEK I: Introduction to acrylic paint, what it is and how to use it. Exploring mediums and painting techniques. Paint a gradient. Brush control.
WEEK II: Colour theory. Paint a colour wheel. Develop a palette.
WEEK III: Composition, perspective. How to begin a painting. Paint a still life.
WEEK IV: Continue the painting, start the final art work
WEEK V: Develop
WEEK VI: Resolving an artwork. Display and critique.
